Crémant de Bourgogne Vintage Grand Eminent | elegant, balanced, and subtle

2014: This was a harmonious vintage, resulting in a wine with long ageing potential. A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay made in the purest tradition of great Crémant de Bourgogne wines, Perle d’Or 2014 enjoyed exceptional ageing in oak barrels, followed by three years on laths. With delicate fruit and a broad mouthfeel, it is complex and sustained with lovely balance, the mark of this outstanding cuvée.

Lovely pale yellow color, the bead is fine and steady. The bouquet encompasses floral notes of honeysuckle and lime blossom, before evolving into fruits such as peach and apricot, offering a lovely aromatic freshness with discreet notes of vanilla and toast. In the mouth, the attack is lemony, broadening out onto powerful fruit flavors.

Food pairings: This sparkling wine will enhance any aperitif occasion, but also makes a good match for noble dishes like fatted chicken, Bresse capon, or quail with grapes.

The 2014 vintage was notable for both abundance and quality. A year of contrasts, spring came early and was warm, sunny and dry, with wonderful flowering leading to optimal ripening and some very fine fruit. This cuvée is labelled “Grand Éminent”, which reflects its ageing of more than 36 months and the fact it has been made exclusively from first-run juice of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. The originality of this cuvée resides in the partial ageing of the Chardonnay for six months, giving it additional complexity. The long ageing has refined its bubbles and enhanced its aromas.

Structure and delicacy

36 months of ageing on racks results in smooth, plump tannins, but that is not all...
2014 is a fairly structured wine with delicate aromas. By extended barrel ageing, we are not looking for more of the expected toasted or vanilla aromas from the cask, but rather for more finesse and complexity as the wine slowly breathes through the compact fibres of the oak.

2014 has the power that comes from this incomparable natural symbiosis.

Pale yellow colour; flowery, fruity nose with a beautiful generous aromatic freshness accompanied by subtle notes of vanilla and toast.
On the palate, tremendous power and volume of fruit.

"Even if we try to enhance a particular year, the cuvée’s profile has to be maintained. Having fewer wines available with a single vintage reduces the choice and makes blending more complex!”
