Crémant de Bourgogne Blanc de Noirs | Power and vivaciousness

This Crémant de Bourgogne Blanc de Noirs is a gastronomic wine. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir grown on a plot located in Gevrey-Chambertin, this cuvée is powerful and sustained with delicate bubbles, a creamy mouthful that is all about harmony. 2008 was a cool year resulting in late harvesting, which produced taut, mineral wines. This is no exception, with its citrussy aromatic crispness.

A deep yellow color with hints of amber promises a complex nose. The wine opens on floral aromas like peony with a hint of kirsch and some toasty notes. In the mouth, it has a lovely fresh vivacity, with a generous, balanced finish ending in a suave sensation, a final hint of kirsch underscoring its great length. This gastronomic Crémant de Bourgogne can be drunk throughout any meal, refined or traditional.

Exquisite combinations: Whether for the simple pleasure of tasting, as an aperitif, during a meal with earthy flavors, such as Burgundy snails in puff pastry or truffle omelet, or seafood like oysters au gratin or skate wing with capers.

Unlike the early-ripening 2007, 2008 was a late vintage. The cool temperatures made for a tricky year, with harvesting starting late September. The harsh conditions meant the vines had to draw deep on their resources and from the soil, resulting in a vintage of great quality. The grapes come from a plot called les Grands Rayes-Blanc in Gevrey-Chambertin, at the foot of the Lavaux valley. With the exception of sparkling, this village only produces red wines, reputed for their power and long ageing potential. This sparkling wine provides a no-frills expression of a terroir dominated by clay. Its character has been enhanced by unusual ageing in oak for 20% of the cuvée for seven months, followed by nine years on laths. This was rounded off with a minimal extra brut dosage to make it the ultimate expression of this great terroir.
